1763 Treaty of Paris

The Treaty of Paris is signed, ending the French and Indian War in North America. The British gained significant lands in North America, including all lands east of the Mississippi River and New France, which includes much of modern-day Canada. Despite fighting for the British against the French, American colonists receive no political freedoms.

25th Amendment ratified

Nevada becomes the 38th state to ratify the Twenty-Fifth Amendment to the Constitution, making it U.S. law. The amendment clarifies the succession should the President or Vice President be unavailable or incapable of performing his duty, and allows the President to appoint Vice President if the position should become vacant.
