  • FDR signs Lend-Lease policy

    President Franklin D. Roosevelt signs Lend-Lease into effect, allowing the United States to lend military and civilian supplies to Allied countries during World War II. The policy, instituted by the Lend-Lease Administration, sent $50.1 billion to Great Britain, the Soviet Union, France, and China.

  • Confederate Constitution finalized

    The Constitution of the Confederate States of America is signed in Montgomery, Alabama by representatives from South Carolina, Georgia, Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida. Derived from the United States Constitution, it delegates more rights to the states and explicitly protects slavery.
