President Grover Cleveland is born in Caldwell, New Jersey. Cleveland, the only President to serve two non-consecutive terms, was elected in 1884 and 1892, serving as both the 22nd and 24th President.
The British Parliament repeals the Stamp Act in the colonies less than a year after its implementation. The tax on all printed good was heavily opposed across the colonies, where the Stamp Act Congress and Sons of Liberty directly opposed the tax. Colonists declared that taxes should not be levied against them without adequate representation in Parliament or provincial assemblies.
