  • Saddam Hussein convicted and sentenced

    Saddam Hussein and his two co-defendants, Barzan Ibrahim al-Tikriti and Awad Hamed al-Bandar, are sentenced to death following a conviction of the mass killing of Iraqi Shi'ites in Dujail in 1982.

  • Treaty of Fort Stanwix

    The six nations of the Iroquois Confederacy sign the Fort Stanwix Treaty with British diplomats, formalizing the borders set forth by the Proclamation of 1763. The British tried to quell the violence on the frontier following their acquisition of French lands in the 1763 Treaty of Paris.

  • Susan B. Anthony votes in presidential election

    Suffragist Susan B. Anthony illegally votes in the general election. Anthony would be arrested two weeks later for breaking the law, and was tried and convicted following a controversial trial, and would be issued a $100 fine that was never collected.
